Fitness Myths

Saying that you can’t demonstrate body acceptance and self compassion or you will end up blowing up like a balloon is like saying…

I can’t love on my toddler as they struggle to learn to walk or they may never master the skill.

Tell me this: how would your toddler fare if you shouted insults, pushed them down, stressed them out…

As in every time they started to take a step you kept telling them to be careful!

You’re going to fall, don’t fall, you always fall, oh my gosh! you are falling!!

Sounds ridiculous, yes?

And yet…it is what we do to ourselves over. and over. again. Especially if we are trying to do something we have never done before.

Our brain says things like…don’t you enjoy that cheat meal, you know you will lose control!

You know how you are when stress happens? Bring on the comfort foods!

Now…go back and consider that toddler…what do we do when they are trying?

We totally cheer for them! We hold their hands, both of them at first. then just one and then just one finger. If they grab on to us, we don’t make it mean anything we just embrace them and encourage their efforts. Whatever that looks like. If they decide to crawl for awhile? No problem. We don’t make it mean anything about their potential.

If you want long term positive results in your life, you must first find positive motivation. It is the only longterm/life solution.

Be your best cheerleader! If you need to lean on someone, get a coach.
