Christmas Energy. It’s a thing.

Walk into a party. You recognize it. It's Christmas energy and it can be positive, or not. Same thing at home. What Christmas energy are you emitting?

I get it. It is super hard to stay "up" all of the time. Totally with you on that. This is the main reason that I REALLY REALLY encourage you to keep up on your self care this time of year. It is so often the first thing to go. And by self care I mean all of the healthy habits. Do you hear me?  I promise you that you will have an easier time showing up the way you would like to if your needs are taken care of. 

If you have time to wrap two presents then you have time for a quick walk around the block. If you have time to bake those cookies, then you have time to peel a carrot {or two} and eat those instead of the aforementioned cookies.

Okay, let's say you are doing ALL the things {or not, cuz you are human} and you find yourself emitting energy you are not wanting...what to do? I have THREE SIMPLE STEPS for you to take that will {almost instantly} change the energy in the room.

First, understand that your energy is generated from your feelings. Secondly, it is your thoughts that create your feeling. Good news: If you can recognize and control your thoughts, you can control the energy around you!

Let me give you an example:
You are in the kitchen fixing dinner. Christmas music playing in the background. {Thank you, Alexa} Your toddler runs through the kitchen with obvious evidence that he has had {yet another} accident. Potty training, geesh! Suddenly you feel your energy crash. Not again! How has he not figured this out yet?

At first glance, you may think your energy is zapped by the accident, but I would like to point out that is was actually your thought about the accident that was the energy zapper.

Rewind: your toddler runs through the kitchen with an obvious potty training fail in his pants. You think to yourself: "Of course he has had an accident, he is just learning and this is how he will learn."  With this thought instead of feeling frustrated, you are now moving towards accepting and possibly even able to feel compassion for the learning toddler.

I realize that this sounds like an oversimplification, but haven’t you found that truth is often that way, simple? The tricky thing is allowing yourself to notice what you are thinking and then owning it so that you can change it. 

This work has been life changing for me at home and in every relationship, really. 

I hope these three steps can help bring your Christmas Energy to an intentional level.
